<font style=" font-size: 15px; font-style: italic; font-variant: none; text-transform: none; text-shadow: 0px 0px 9px #000000;">Fall was in full swing.</font> The days were short, the nights were cold, and the air was deliciously crisp. An orange moon hung above the forest like the eye of a great beast as Citlali prowled like a silent spirit through the trees. Though the loss of her eye may have damaged her depth perception, it left her night vision fully intact. She kept an ear up for any signs of prey, but her mind wasn't really on the hunt tonight. She was thinking about her potential future as Caelum's lead healer, about Indian's return and what it meant for the two of them, if anything, and about Cruxer and Lucia. The two seemed like mere memories now, but she still saw them in her dreams sometimes (which were really more like nightmares when they were present), all fanged grins and glowing eyes. They would taunt her, threaten her, chase her down. The dream always ended before they ripped into her like prey, and she always awoke in a cold sweat.

She shivered and rolled her shoulders, feeling the comforting softness of her mother's scarf around her neck. That was in the past, she told herself. She was free now, she even had a role to play within her pack. Attempting to soothe her frayed nerves, she paused in her travels and looked around, enjoying the serenity of the sleeping forest. As she surveyed the woods around her, an odd...glow caught her eye. Curious, but cautious, she followed it's distant shine, though her steps were light and hesitant. When she was a few wolf-lengths away from it, it's source hidden by trees and underbrush, she stopped again and squinted, trying to make out what it was.

Long limbs whisked the green nymph away from the comforts of her old home, though now a different leader leads. She was growing rather bored already, still unsure about this Odyseus that Erzsebet has chosen to keep around. As Persephone walked on and came across the forest she couldn't help but linger around, often drawn to these lands. The tall skeletal trees that tower above us feel like an extra layer of protection, she also loved the calmness the land presented, very little disturbed the peace here. As she walked along, meandering around the trees in silence a dark figure had quickly caught her attention. The wolf had large magnificent wings and she wore beautiful browns and white. With little else to do, the nymph would pause for a moment before deciding to go investigate the unknown woman. Her step remained light and calculated, her goal wasn't to stalk and spook her even though she remained silent, Persephone was simply intrigued to find out more, which she often is when she comes across a stranger. When she was a comfortable distance away, the nymph would simply stop, raising her cranium and flicking her triangular ears. Watcha doin?" She'd call rather oblivious, her cranium tilting to the side to exaggerate her curiosity. Soon after her icy blue eyes would drift in the direction the lady was looking, suddenly seeing that same glow. " You seem to be concentrating on something" What was it? Persephone could only wonder. " I'm Persephone, who are you?"

<font style=" font-size: 15px; font-style: italic; font-variant: none; text-transform: none; text-shadow: 0px 0px 9px #000000;">As she watched,</font> the emerald glow gradually faded away. Citlali cocked her head, puzzled. After waiting a few more moments with no further sighting of the glow, she began to feel unsettled, and was about to leave when a merry voice rang out behind her. Startled, she jolted a few inches off the ground and spun around, wings flaring as if in preparation to take off. The first thing she noticed about the wolf standing nearby was the ethereal emerald glow radiating from her fur. Was that what she had seen before? Despite her initial startle, she noticed a definite lack of hostility about this woman, and she gradually relaxed again, folding her wings once more. <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"I had seen something glowing in the trees over there,"</font> she explained sheepishly, flicking an ear in the direction of the light's former location. <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"I think it might have been you, actually. I've never seen a wolf who could glow all over."</font> Glowing markings, yes, but this wolf seemed to exude light from every hair, as if she was lit from within.

She introduced herself right off the bat, a habit the mutt was unfamiliar with, and perhaps a little intimidated by. <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"Citlali, of Caelum,"</font> she said, dipping her head and ruffling her wings. Her nose twitched once as she discreetly tested the other female's scent for pack-markers, but it was an unfamiliar mix, impossible for her to place. <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"Do you have a packland, or are you a nomad?"</font> Packs seemed to come and go in Vindico, although Caelum had endured for some time, which gave her confidence.

Persephone remained behind the unknown lady, her reaction quite predictable. She was startled and caught of guard and Persephone wondered if perhaps she spoke a bit too loud. She would shrug the thought away however, deciding the lady was simply over exaggerating. Blue eyes would stay upon cit's form, watching as her wings spread, which made it seem the woman was about to leave the area. It must be so handy having such large wings to travel from land to land, not having to walk for miles. Perhaps Persephone should find one to enslave, so she could ride them like a dragon. Persephones cranium would tilt as the lady spoke of a glow within the distance, but little did she know that that glow was actually the green nymph herself. A smile would pull against her thing lips, as the woman confessed she was the light, Pers had never been told such things. " Me? I didn't know I stood out so much,[b]" She would giggle. Citlali was her name and Persephone couldn't help but look upon her beauty. so pretty. [b]" I'm currently a loner, though the woman I'm following is about to make her own pack. So I guess I'm not a nomad for long." She would pause for a moment before continueing. " Caelum? I think I've heard of that place before. Who runs it?" Was it those... those Madars?

<font style=" font-size: 15px; font-style: italic; font-variant: none; text-transform: none; text-shadow: 0px 0px 9px #000000;">Citlali was intrigued</font> at the idea of another pack forming in the land, and wondered what their alignment would be. Could Caelum expect an alliance, or enmity? She wasn't a warrior, or even a high-ranking wolf, but to purposefully remain ignorant about the goings-on outside her home seemed completely foolish. <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"It's always good to have a home, especially with winter coming on before too long."</font> She had noticed in her hunts that the squirrels, and other animals that prepared for the winter, had been more active than usual. She had a feeling that it was going to be a lean season, and pitied any who attempted to go it alone.

She was surprised that Persephone knew of her pack, although it seemed her memory wasn't complete. <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"The Madar family holds most of the high ranks,"</font> she explained, <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"though I suppose that's fitting, seeing how two of them--Indian and Caracara--founded it."</font> She sat down, rustling her wings into a more comfortable position as she did so. <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"I'm just an herbalist, myself, although Cara has offered to let me become lead healer." </font>She laughed. <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"Not much of a change, to be honest, seeing as I'm the pack's only healer, but it's more than I've ever been before."</font> She regarded Persephone curiously, wondering what her particular niche was. <font style=" color: #a1cbde; text-shadow: 0px 0px 10px #ffffff;">"What role do you hope to take on in your future pack?"</font> Her slim build suggested a scout or hunter, although as Citlali looked at her closer, she noticed the strange shape of her forepaws--elongated, jointed toes and small claws. They reminded her of the paws of a raccoon or other dexterous animal, and Citlali was momentarily jealous. The thumb-talons growing from her wings were flexible but weak, giving her little ability to carry things with them, and her own forepaws were stiff and inflexible like any other canine's. Perhaps she was meant to be some sort of crafter, then?
