Vindico

Amid a mass of tangles vines and gnarled tree limbs the fragile creature sat, engrossed in his study of a rather large beetle that had happened to cross his path. The thing wriggled its hair length legs furiously in an attempt to free itself but to no avail. The insect had a shiny metallic look to it, and curious crimson eyes stared at it in delight at such an interesting find. He paused to wonder what this kind of bug might be called, maybe it had a funny sounding name, or no name at all. Kelper's tail wagged in delight as he turned the beetle in his little fingered hand for a few more moments and soon after losing interest entirely and scampering along a vine covered branch, climbing further and further towards the canopy.

With a start he realized something had changed since he entered the forest some time ago. It was snowing! The white flakes trickled down through the heavy branches and could almost go unnoticed if one were further down on the ground. Tilting his head skyward he saw it was in fact snowing quite a lot up above. Little legs picked up speed while still moving to dodge around the many vines that seemed bent on tripping anyone who moved without caution.

Once he broke through the heavy leaves that had blocked his view of the sky above Kelper could fully appreciate what was going on. The land around him was being blanketed in white, almost unrecognizable. Wind whipped by him and caused the little one to shiver violently due to his lack of fur. Vindico looked so different, and this certainly couldn't be the normal arrival of winter, could it? And where might a frog-wolf like him go for shelter? It was unlikely Silvis would keep out much snow for long. He flopped down on the tree limb and sighed.
A beautiful avelorn loner flapped down from the canopy in search of a warmer place to stay, for she wasn't used to such cold weather. At least, she wasn't fully adapted, yet. The indigo and ivory swirled Nalamimi looked down at a rather...friendly looking wolf with her enchanting gaze, part of it hidden by her bangs. He appeared to show interest in incects. Mainly a DungBeetle resembling one that was flailing it's appendages crazily. Her long legs rested upon a rock that made her feel like a Great Wolf making a speech. "Hello down there! I am Nalamimi. I was flying by and noticed this place. Do you know anywhere that's warmer? My fur hasn't quite made it's cold-weather coat yet. Trying to keep warm 'til then! So far, this is the best, so if you know anywhere better, please direct me that way." Short and simple. More of an attempt than actually being short and simple. She didn't mean to anger or scare, she only means to create as many friends as possible, for she liked to travel, and it was wisest to have friends wherever you go. A smile creeps onto her face, making a more happy expression on her face.

Waves of uncertainty consumed the tiny wolf as he wondered how long this are would stay somewhat warm. It was pure luck he had happened to be here when the snow hit instead of out in the open where he was likely to freeze half to death. Apparently there were perks to having fur he hadn't previously considered. Oh well, maybe there was a nice place deeper in the trees, down where the roots created a maze of tangled bark and leafy plants made it hard to see far ahead of yourself. That might just be a start unless he was fortunate enough to find company that knew where he could go.

Almost as soon as the amphibian-wolf stood on his little webbed feet he heard the beating of wings and observed as a stranger landed nearby. At first he was caught up in looking at her interesting markings, then he remembered to hope she might know of somewhere the snow had not yet touched. Somewhere the less than insulated might take refuge. Unfortunately his hoped were dashed almost immediately afterwards when she asked him the same thing he had hoped to ask her. Crap. He honestly didn't know where it might be warmer. The only thing that came to mind was that perhaps climbing down from his perch in the trees and wandering along the forest floor to look for a den type space to curl up in. Couldn't hurt.

<font style="color:#889121;"><b>"Oh, hello there... I'm Kelper. No, I don't know anywhere warm either. You can look with me if you want though,"</b></font> he called. Sure he wasn't exactly used to having company, but having someone nearby could be a good thing in this sudden change of weather. Especially since he wasn't at all familiar with this place.

Scampering quickly along his branch, Kelper slipped through tangled vines and bounced from tree limb to tree limb before finally leaping to the ground and sort of tumbling over himself when he didn't quite stick the landing. Oops!

Kelper, as the young adolescent introduced himself as, was friendly and seemingly very trusting and had asked if she wanted to search with him for a warmer area. Which if they both looked, there was a better chance of finding what both of them seeked out. "It's very nice to meet you Kelper. I think it would be a very wise idea if we worked together to find hotter territory than this. Just saying, flight might have to be used if the temperature continues to drop." Nala just wanted to be very clear that in order to keep their bodies the temperature they're supposed to be, aireal survaillance might have to be used as a last resort.

"Ya coming?" The mystical avelorn playfully yipped as she advance a few bounds as she awaited the response from her froggy-accomplice. This was the very first time she ever really got to peacefully interact with another wolf. She hoped that he wasn't anywhere in front of her where she would see him. Surprises weren't at all her most favorite thing in the world, and she ddn't plan on making them today.

This new aquaintance seemed nice enough to Kelper, and he hoped between the two of them they might find a place to stay for a while. It would be nice to not freeze anytime soon. The real issue that now plauged his mind however was the daunting question of what to do if they were unable to find anywhere untouched by snow. Maybe that was a concern best pondered when they were actually upon such a situation rather than getting caught up in it now.

Trotting over to the intricately marked female he sat down beside her for a moment and glanced at her wings. Yes, it would probably be a good thing that she had the option of flight should a ground search yeild nothing. Kelper also noted how significantly taller she was then him. The little wolf was nearly a foot shorter than this Nalamimi. It was no matter though, and he soon took off in a random direction, slipping through the dense leaves and beckoning his new aquaintance to follow as he started the search.

Webbed crimson feet clambored over various roots and took him through vines that covered the ground to the point he wasn't sure he'd ever find the dirt they grew out of below should he choose to look. The little one searched, gaze flicking all around and scrutinizing every nook and cranny of his surroundings until his eyes settled on a dark patch ahead of them. At the base of one of the truly massive trees, roots curled in such a way as to create a very small cave-like space, sheltered from the elements. Kelper noted that the closer he got to the trees, the warmer the air was and he wondered if these plants might be producing heat, though they never had before.
